After two months of upward price movements, the US domestic scrap market traded sideways in most inland regions of the US including the Midwest while prices settled down in the East coast. Sources inform SteelOrbis that purchase volumes were slightly smaller compared to November but that domestic demand continues strong. The decline in prices in the East coast is attributed to the decline in export scrap prices, especially, to Turkey. Busheling scrap prices in the East coast reportedly declined on slightly weaker volumes sought, especially, from distant buyers. Additionally, several sources report that some US mills have been actively purchasing prime scrap grades from the EU.
