Sources inform SteelOrbis that the export effect on the East coast scrap market dampened the expectations of scrap prices increasing $20-30/gt ($20-30/mt) compared to March and reportedly “ended up positive $10-15/gt ($10-15/mt) on most deals.”

An East coast scrap seller stated, “Better weather, export dipping a little, and just overall uncertain market conditions made April a little of a buyer’s market.”

Prices on the East coast are now reportedly at $380/gt ($386/mt) on shredded scrap, $345-355/gt ($351-361/mt) on P&S scrap, $335-345/gt on HMS I ($340-350/mt), and $370-380/gt ($371-386/mt) on busheling scrap, all prices delivered to customer.
