Sources close to SteelOrbis have said that prices throughout the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Pittsburgh regions have settled in a myriad of ranges. For example, sources in the Pittsburgh region have said that mills in that area bought at up $10/gt on secondary grades, and held sideways on busheling scrap.
On the other hand, Chicago-area sources have confirmed that while mills also paid +$10/gt for shredded scrap, they’re down $20/gt on busheling scrap. Looking at Ohio, scrap prices in Cincinnati have settled at $410-$440/gt for HMS, $550-$570/gt for busheling, $430-$450/gt for P&S, and a range of $430-$460/gt for shred. These price ranges are largely aligned with Ohio Valley-region price points from last month, which are comprised of average price points from several cities within the region.
Finalized settled prime scrap prices within this region, however, are not immediately clear, as sources have said that mills are quoting at various price points. Additional clarity on all Ohio Valley settled scrap prices is expected to emerge by Monday.
