Two Turkish mills increase domestic scrap purchase quotations

Thursday, 24 September 2020 16:16:34 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Today, September 24, two Turkish mills have increased their domestic scrap purchase quotations, while others have decided to keep their prices stable. The price increase in question was in the range of TRY 30-130/mt depending on the grade. Following the Turkish Central Bank’s announcement of a hike in interest rates, the Turkish lira has gained some strength and caused all dollar-based quotations to move up by $1-2/mt in the case of unchanged lira-based levels and by $6-19/mt for those mills which have increased their price levels compared to yesterday. As a result, domestic scrap purchase prices in Turkey are still in the range of TRY 2,000-2,345/mt or $262-307/mt.
