Since SteelOrbis’ report published on July 25, Izmir-based Turkish mills have reduced their ship scrap procurement prices by $10-20/mt, with all their prices converging at $360/mt. After increasing by $45-55/mt in the early days of July from the levels recorded at the end of June, ship scrap procurement prices have since declined by $30/mt. As Turkey’s scrap prices are decreasing and sentiment in the finished steel segment remains weak, ship scrap procurement prices are expected to move down further.

In Turkey's Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer

Price ($/mt)

Price change ($/mt)

Özkan Demir Çelik

360

-10

Ege Çelik

360

-15

İDÇ

360

-20

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
