Turkish mills raise their local scrap purchase prices

Wednesday, 10 August 2022 16:37:08 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Since SteelOrbis’ report published on Friday, August 5, some Turkish mills have increased their local scrap procurement prices by TRY 100-700/mt or $6-39/mt. Some mills have kept their prices stable, with their dollar-based quotations remaining stable. Turkish mills are still trying to compensate for the shortage of ex-EU scrap by buying short sea and local scrap, and have increased their prices to maintain the flow of scrap.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has decreased from TRY 5,800-7,400/mt ($323-412/mt) to TRY 6,200-7,550/mt ($345-421/mt).
