Since SteelOrbis’ report published on August 12, some Turkish mills have decreased their local scrap procurement prices by TRY 100-120/mt or $6-7/mt. Some mills that had kept their prices stable when prices were rising have increased their prices by TRY 250-800/mt or $14-45/mt, while others have kept their quotations stable in the local currency, with a sideways movement in their dollar-based prices. As demand for deep sea and short sea scrap is on pause in Turkey, Turkish mills have started to exert pressure on domestic scrap quotations.
As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has increased from TRY 6,250-7,800 ($348-434/mt) to TRY 6,400-7,800/mt ($356-434/mt).
