Since SteelOrbis’ report published on August 17, some Turkish mills have decreased their local scrap procurement prices by TRY 100-300/mt or $8-20/mt. Others have kept their quotations stable, with a $3/mt fall in their dollar-based prices. The declining tendency continues in the local Turkish scrap market but the price adjustments in question did not have an impact on the overall price range this week.
As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained stable at TRY 6,400-7,800/mt ($354-431/mt). The slight decline of $2-3/mt in dollar-based quotations was the result of the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the major currencies.
