Turkish mills in Izmir region increase ship scrap purchase prices further

Local ship scrap purchase prices have increased again Turkey’s Izmir region. Turkish mills in the region have announced a $5-6/mt rise in their purchase prices depending on their scrap needs, while yesterday only some of the mills had revised prices up by $3/mt. As a result, ship scrap purchase prices in the region have increased to $295-296/mt CPT with only Cebitas giving the indicative level of $260/mt CPT because it is currently not interested in scrap purchases. Market sources believe that local ship scrap purchase prices will keep following the uptrend as import scrap prices are on the rise and as producers need to buy local raw material.

 In Turkey's Aliaga region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
