Turkish steel mills have kept their domestic scrap purchase prices in the national currency stable compared to last week. But at the same time, the US dollar equivalent of prices has declined by $3-6/mt depending on the producer and the steel scrap grade as the exchange rate has increased to TRY 5.83 to the dollar as of August 29. Market sentiments have remained bearish in the local scrap market in Turkey due to overall slower consumption and the downtrend in the import scrap market.
