Some Turkish mills have preferred to make some downward adjustments in their local scrap purchase prices over the past two weeks. Their price levels have moved down by TRY 20-100/mt or $5-18/mt depending on the producer. Some of the mills have kept their purchase price levels stable for now, resulting in a $1-2/mt decline in their purchase prices on US dollar basis. Meanwhile, only one mill increased its purchase prices, raising them by TRY 15/mt. most probably aiming to offset currency fluctuations, SteelOrbis understands.
In the import segment, some higher activity is expected to be seen this week. While the overall price trend of import scrap still lacks clarity, local scrap suppliers are reported to be rather active as they expect mills may decrease their purchase prices further.
