Tokyo Steel reduces scrap purchase prices for third time in two weeks

On November 2, SteelOrbis reported Tokyo Steel decreased the purchase price of H2 scrap at three sites. Prices were reported at JPY 37,000/mt ($327/mt) in the Okayama plant, at JPY 36,500/mt ($322/mt) in the Tahara plant, and at JPY 37,000/mt ($327/mt) at Utsunomiya site, all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel has drastically decreased scrap purchase prices at the three sites and they are now reportedly at JPY 35,000/mt ($308/mt) in the Okayama plant, at JPY 34,500/mt ($303/mt) in the Tahara plant, and at JPY 35,500/mt ($312/mt) at Utsunomiya site, all prices delivered to customer. Week-on-week prices declined $19/mt in the Okayama and Tahara sites while declining $15/mt at the Utsunomiya site.
