Tokyo Steel reduces domestic scrap buying prices at same site again

On December 11, SteelOrbis reported Tokyo Steel decreasing H2 scrap purchase prices at one site, namely the Okayama site, while maintaining stable prices at the other sites. Prices were reportedly at JPY 30,500/mt ($269/mt) at the Tahara site, JPY 29,000/mt ($256/mt) at the Okayama site, and JPY 31,500/mt ($278/mt) at the Utsunomiya plant, all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel has again decreased the scrap purchase prices by JPY 500/mt at the Okayama site, but it is maintaining the scrap purchase prices in JPY terms at the other two sites previously reported stable.

Prices are now reportedly at JPY 30,500/mt ($268/mt) at the Tahara site, JPY 28,500/mt ($251/mt) at the Okayama site, and JPY 31,500/mt ($277/mt) at the Utsunomiya plant, all prices delivered to customer. The Tahara and Okayama sites decreased $1/mt while the Okayama plant scrap prices decreased $5/mt.
