Tokyo Steel increases scrap buying prices at two sites

On September 20, SteelOrbis reported that Tokyo Steel H2 scrap buying prices increased at its Tahara, Okayama, and Utsunomiya plants over the past week. The Okayama site reportedly increased its buying price to JPY 38,000/mt ($338/mt) while the Utsunomiya and Tahara plants also reportedly increased their scrap buying prices to about JPY 37,500/mt ($333/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

The H2 scrap grade buying price range at the three sites was reportedly at JPY 37,500-38,000/mt ($333-338/mt) delivered to customer.

Sources now inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel has increased the H2 scrap buying prices by JPY 500/mt at its Okayama and Tahara plants while retaining Utsunomiya prices stable at JPY 37,500/mt ($332/mt). The Okayama plant H2 scrap prices reportedly increased to JPY 38,500/mt ($341/mt) while the Tahara plant H2 scrap prices increased to JPY 38,000/mt ($336/mt), all prices delivered to customer. Due to currency fluctuations, H2 scrap buying prices decreased by $1/mt at the Utsunomiya plant while they increased $3/mt at the Tahara and Okayama sites.
