Tokyo Steel increases local scrap prices again - by $28/mt at most plants

Japanese EAF-based steel producer Tokyo Steel has announced a further increase in its scrap purchase prices, raising them for the second day in a row. This time, prices have increased at a higher pace - by JPY 2,000-3,000/mt ($18-28/mt).

The prices for H2 scrap at the Tahara Works, Okayama and Kyushu have added JPY 3,000/mt, reaching JPY 49,000/mt ($451/mt), JPY 48,000/mt ($442/mt) and JPY 47,500/mt ($437/mt), respectively. The rise at Takamatsu factory has been also JPY 3,000/mt, to JPY 46,500/mt ($428/mt). Only for Utsunomiya have scrap prices increased by JPY 2,000/mt this time - to JPY 46,000/mt ($424/mt). All prices are delivered and effective from May 12.
