It is observed that today, April 8, some Turkish mills have decided to raise their domestic scrap purchase prices significantly by TRY 20-200/mt, depending on the grade. This reflected as a $2-27/mt rise in the mills’ dollar-based quotations. A market source said that domestic scrap flow is feeling the impact of the slowdown observed in main manufacturing sectors such as automotive, which also provides steel scrap. Also, the lack of import scrap cargoes is causing Turkish mills to increase domestic scrap purchase quotations.
Other mills have kept their prices stable as compared to SteelOrbis’ report published on April 6. For mills that decided to keep their Turkish lira-based prices stable, their dollar-based quotations for some grades have moved sideways, while their prices for other grades have decreased by $1/mt.
