Short sea scrap suppliers to Turkey sold significant volumes at the end of last week, following a number of deals on the deep sea side. According to market sources, around 30,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap were booked from Romania and the Adriatic region at $289-291/mt CFR to Turkey’s Marmara and Izmir regions. The prices are in line with the previous transactions.

As deep sea scrap prices have hit $300/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20 in the most recent transactions, market sources have told SteelOrbis they expect some price increase in the upcoming sales of short sea scrap as well.
