Short sea scrap prices for Turkey have moved up in line with the price trend recorded in deep sea deals during the week.

In the current week, approximately 10,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap has been sold from Bulgaria to Turkey’s Marmara region in the range of $279-280/mt CFR.

Meanwhile, Russian offers for HMS I/II 90:10 scrap are at $300/mt CFR Turkey and expectations for the ex-Romania HMS I/II 80:20 price in the coming deals is at $285/mt CFR.

Additionally, expectations for Cypriot and Israeli suppliers’ HMS I/II 75:25 scrap prices to Turkey are now at $275/mt CIF Iskenderun and above.

Market sources state that there is demand for short sea scrap in Turkey since Turkish mills are expected to continue their purchases in the coming week. The foreseen uptrend in Turkey’s deep sea import scrap market is also providing support for the short sea side.
