According to market sources, a Turkish mill based in the Marmara region has recently closed a deal for 5,000 mt of ex-Romania HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $270/mt CFR. In addition, another producer from the same region has closed a deal for scrap from Bulgaria at $268/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20. As a result, the prices in short sea scrap deals in Turkey have fallen by $10-12/mt over the past week.
At the end of last week, 1,500 mt of HMS I/II 75:25 scrap were sold from Israel at $265/mt CFR, $8/mt below the previous transaction level. Currently, the bids from Turkish mills are at $250-255/mt CFR for scrap of the mentioned origin, SteelOrbis has learned.
Turkey’s steel producers remain mostly quiet in their import scrap bookings, while their bids for the raw material are rather low, sources say. Market sentiment remains weak and most sources expect prices to decline in the upcoming deals.
