Ship scrap prices soften in Turkey’s Izmir region

Most Turkish mills based in the Izmir region have revised their local purchase prices for ship scrap. Currently, three out of the five local buyers have their levels settled at $298-300/mt CPT, down $2/mt over the past week. Cebitas remains largely out of market and is reported as not purchasing any ship scrap, and so the producer’s price level for the raw material is still indicative and is the lowest in the region. Sources say that the recent price revision was mainly due to currency fluctuations.
