Ship scrap prices fall in Turkey’s Izmir region

Turkish mills based in the Izmir region have reduced their local ship scrap purchase prices, mainly following the downturn in the import scrap segment. Currently, their prices for the raw material are settled at $290-296/mt CPT, down $4-8/mt over the past week. One of the mills, which was in the market last week, has not yet announced its purchase price, most probably being unwilling to purchase ship scrap these days. The trend in the domestic ship scrap market will traditionally depend on import scrap pricing.

In Turkey's Aliaga region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

Özkan

-

-

Habaş

296

-4

Ege Çelik

290

-8

İDÇ

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
