While Turkish mills remain active in their scrap inquiries for January shipments, optimism prevails among suppliers of the raw material. The price uptrend is also supported by the bullish price policies in the flats segment and by the moderate improvement on the rebar side. According to market sources, ex-EU HSM I/II 80:20 scrap has been transacted at around $285/mt CFR Turkey, while ex-Baltic scrap of the same grade has been traded at around $290/mt CFR Turkey. However, the details were not disclosed to the market by the time of publication. In the meantime, Romanian scrap suppliers are reportedly targeting $280/mt CFR for HSM I/II 80:20 grade versus offers of $275/mt CFR voiced just a day earlier.
