Scrap prices still rise in Italy due to short supply

Scrap prices have increased further in the Italian domestic market due to the imbalance between supply and demand. Local prices have risen by €17.5-40/mt in the past week, and may rise further in the coming period, according to local suppliers. Busheling scrap is currently the material which is lacking the most in the market, although “all scrap categories are lacking, and all mills have low stocks,” one source told SteelOrbis. According to some market players, the only unknown factor at the moment seems to be the recent worsening of prices and of sentiment in China, although these negative developments have not had an impact on international scrap prices so far.
