Scrap prices soften slightly in recent deals to Bangladesh

One deal for ex-US scrap has been reported done in Bangladesh this week. The price level  was slightly lower than previous offers. Some price decline has been seen in the containerized scrap segment too.

A cargo of 32,000 mt of ex-US scrap has been booked at $325/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20 and $330/mt CFR for shredded scrap. As SteelOrbis reported earlier, most offers were not below $330/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20, but some discounts have been provided to sign a deal. Sources reported that demand has continued to be firm from Bangladesh, which prevented prices from recording a deeper fall. Weaker sentiment in the scrap market in Turkey and Asia has exerted pressure on prices.

In the containerized scrap segment, a deal for ex-Brazil HMS I has been done at $320/mt CFR, down by $5/mt from last week. Offers for HMS I/II 80:20 in containers have been at $320-325/mt CFR, while shredded scrap has been available at $330-335/mt CFR.
