After recording month-on-month increases in February and March this year, scrap prices have continued to decrease in the German domestic market in subsequent months. According to the latest data provided by the German steel scrap recycler association (BDSV), in the first 20 days of July prices decreased both month on month and year on year.
Scrap prices in Germany in July fell by €5.9/mt on average month on month, while they declined by €36.24/mt compared to the same month last year. After increasing by €5/mt last March, the aggregate decline has been €22/mt on average in the past four months.
Prices are average prices for domestic transactions across Germany in the first 20 days of the given month. The prices are provided by Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Stahlrecycling-und Entsorgungsunternehmen e.V. (BDSV).
