Russia’s Baltic-based scrap exporters raise purchase prices further

Purchase prices for A3 scrap grade have continued to increase in the Baltic region of Russia since exporters have been seeking to secure tonnages to be shipped abroad. Import scrap prices in Turkey keep surging, heating up the situation on the suppliers’ side.

Today, February 25, exporters in the mentioned region in Russia have increased their scrap purchase prices by $21/mt (RUB 1,700/mt) to $343/mt (RUB 25,400/mt) CPT. Some sources say that there are some special, higher prices also, specifically from those buyers who have some urgent need to finish loading of cargoes.

In the meantime, the import scrap prices in Turkey have reached $449-454/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20 in the latest transactions. Moreover, taking into account that Turkish mills still need at least 30 cargoes for March, scrap prices are expected to increase solidly in Turkey.

Prices are indicated without 20 percent VAT.
