The mood in the scrap market in Russia remains optimistic. Scrap exporters, being fairly optimistic regarding further sales to Turkey, have increased their scrap purchase price levels at ports in their local market. Russian steel mills, in their turn, have raised their scrap purchase prices, aiming to secure their required volumes, while suppliers may find scrap sales to exporters more advantageous.
Exporters from St. Petersburg have increased their purchase prices for A3 scrap in the local market by $11/mt (RUR 800/mt) to $264/mt (RUB 20,000/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned. In the meantime, local steel producers have increased their purchase prices by $2-4/mt (RUB 100-300/mt) depending on the buyer and the region, SteelOrbis has learned.
