Rapid rise in import scrap prices in Turkey pushes up ship scrap purchase quotations

Ship scrap purchase prices in Turkey’s İzmir region have been revised upwards several times today, April 7, with prices settling at $220-226/mt for delivery to mill by truck for now, $2-18/mt higher than the levels recorded yesterday, April 6. Market sources state that concerns regarding the shortage of scrap supply as well as the increasing trend of import scrap quotations have pushed up local ship scrap prices. Meanwhile, Turkish mill Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has not returned to the market today, April 7. Also, Cebitas is still out of the market.

In Turkey's Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
