Today, April 9, two İzmir-based Turkish mills have increased their ship scrap purchase prices further by $10-11/mt, while one has kept its prices stable. As a result, ship scrap purchase prices in Turkey are now in the range of $230-245/mt, for delivery to mill by truck. On Monday, April 6, the prices were at $208-218/mt.
The rise observed in the ship scrap purchase prices in Turkey results from the lack of import scrap cargoes as well as the shortage experienced also in the domestic scrap market due to the slowdown in the manufacturing sector. Meanwhile, Izmir Demir Celik (IDC), which has been out of the market for some time now, has announced a temporary halt of its steel production. Also, Cebitas is still maintaining a quiet stance regarding ship scrap purchases.
In Turkey's Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Özkan Demir Çelik |
245 |
+10 |
Habaş |

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
