Pig iron export price declines in Brazil

According to a Brazilian pig iron producer, the most recent deal for the export of the steelmaking grade product was closed at $325/mt, against $350/mt one month ago, FOB conditions.

In December, Brazil exported 264,700mt of pig iron, at an average FOB price of $382/mt.

Producers in the northeastern state of Maranhao exported 189,200mt, while exports from the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo totaled 75,500mt.

The main destinations were the US (167,600mt), the EU (29,900mt), South America (35,500mt), Asia (21,200mt) and Turkey (9,300mt).
