No significant price movements in local Italian scrap market

The Italian scrap consumers association Nuovo Campsider has told SteelOrbis that in March this year in the Italian scrap market the price situation was generally unchanged compared to the previous month. In fact, in the first part of March slight decreases were recorded in scrap prices, followed by slight downticks in prices in the latter part of the same month.

As for April, Nuovo Campsider foresees that Italian steel producers will suspend their production for between five and seven days due to the Easter holidays, while large shipments of raw material are expected to arrive at steelmakers' premises from Italian ports. This month, small price increases may be recorded, though the aim of local steelmakers - which are not satisfied with their sales in the finished steel market - seems to be to keep current prices unchanged.
