The import scrap market in Turkey has witnessed a somewhat lower number of offers from deep sea suppliers along with a certain increase of activity on the demand side. As a result, scrap sellers have been showing resistance to low bids and are trying to pull up prices. A Marmara region-based steel producer has recently purchased 18,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 from the UK at $223.5/mt CFR, for shipment in November. In this deal, HMS I/II 80:20 scrap prices have added $3.5/mt compared to the price level in the transaction reported on September 25. Currently, offers for ex-UK HMS I/II 80:20 scrap are heard in the market at around $230/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned.
