A few Turkish mills have revised their domestic scrap purchasing prices downwards, following the sizeable drop of tags, seen on Friday. In the lira terms the prices went down by TRY 20-90/mt, but the largest decrease in the US dollar equivalent was registered at $10-17/mt depending on the mill and the scrap grade. “In September, we would expect domestic scrap purchases prices to fall a little further under normal conditions, but the market demand for finished steel products is very low,” a source told SteelOrbis. “There is a chance that mills will cut the crude steel production, which will affect their scrap purchases. If not and the finished steel prices continue going down, we might see lower scrap prices too,” he added.
