Steelmakers in Turkey’s Izmir region have decided to increase their domestic scrap purchase prices as of today, October 14. The price rises amounted to TRY 40-50/mt ($5-6/mt) for IDC and Ege Celik as compared to October 9, while Habas and Ozkan Demir Celik have also announced increases in their quotations. Market sources state that these decisions are the result of the fluctuations recorded in the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate.
Meanwhile, other Turkish mills have kept their prices stable as compared to SteelOrbis’ previous report published on October 9, while the dollar equivalents have also remained unchanged as the Turkish lira is again at 7.94 to the US dollar today.
The benchmark DKP grade scrap quotations in Turkey are now in the range of TRY 2,050-2,360/mt or $258-297/mt, indicating sideways movement.
