Local Turkish scrap market moves down further

Wednesday, 27 January 2021 17:12:24 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Almost all Turkish mills have decreased their domestic scrap purchase prices as compared to the levels recorded on Monday, January 25, by TRY 50-130/mt or $8-19/mt, depending on the buyer and grade. The downward revision is believed to be the result of the declines recorded in the deep sea scrap segment. The dollar-based quotations of the other two mills which decided to keep their lira-based prices stable have moved down by $1/mt as the Turkish lira has depreciated slightly against the US dollar.

Since Monday, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from TRY 2,950-3,525/mt to TRY 2,900-3,525/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have decreased from the range of $400-478/mt to $392-476/mt.
