Since SteelOrbis’ report published on August 19, most Turkish mills revised their domestic scrap procurement prices, some up some down. Several Turkish mills decreased their local scrap procurement prices by TRY 100-230/mt or $7-14/mt. Some small increases have also been observed by TRY 20-200/mt or $9-10/mt, while others have kept their quotations stable which resulted in a $1-2/mt fall on dollar based prices.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap have declined TRY 200/mt to TRY 6,200-7,600/mt ($341-418/mt). The decline of $13/mt on dollar based quotations was the result of depreciating Turkish lira against the major currencies.
