Local scrap prices dip further in Russia

Domestic scrap purchase prices have dropped further in Russia. However, while Russian mills have applied a significant decrease, the exporters from the Baltic region have adjusted their price levels in line with currency fluctuations.

In the St. Petersburg area, the A3 grade purchasing prices of exporters have declined by RUB 800/mt since early February to RUB 23,000/mt CPT, while on the US dollar basis the price has lost only $3/mt to $310/mt CPT.

On the producers’ side, the purchase prices in the Central region of Russia have declined by $12/mt (RUB 1,500/mt) to $344/mt (RUB 25,500/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned. In the meantime, in the Ural region the purchase prices have settled at $355/mt (RUB 26,300/mt CPT.

Prices are indicated without 20 percent VAT.
