The price rally in the local Russian steel scrap market has continued as both steel mills and scrap exporters are struggling to allocate the needed volumes, while Turkey’s deal levels hit a new high at the end of last week. As a result, Russian mills’ scrap purchase prices have increased by $22-25/mt (RUB 1,300-1,500/mt) in the Central and Ural regions, while in the Southern region they have remained stable since Friday in the local currency and have indicated a slight increase on US dollar basis. “Prices are rising day by day in Russia and this week will continue rising by another RUB 500-1,000/mt,” a local producer told SteelOrbis.
In the exporters’ segment, their purchase A3 grade price has been settled at $310/mt (RUB 22,600/mt) CPT for now, up by $10/mt (RUB 700/mt) since late last week.
