Local Italian scrap market moves sideways

Domestic scrap prices in Italy have mostly trended sideways over the past three weeks, except for the slight decrease seen in HMS grade scrap prices last week. According to market sources, prices are stable, while regular scrap flows are proceeding between local suppliers and steel mills. There is still uncertainty about which trend local scrap prices will follow in October, though currently most sources exclude the possibility of price rises, as domestic supply is good, mills have high scrap supplies, and as there have not been significant scrap price variations internationally.
