Prices in the local Italian scrap market have decreased slightly in the monthly scrap contracts that have been concluded this month, according to market sources,. However, currently the demand-supply situation appears to be in equilibrium. According to some scrap traders, there is the feeling that scrap spot prices may increase in the coming weeks thanks to good demand from Italian mills and also with the support of the recent slight recovery of import scrap prices in Turkey. Market sources underlined that, as in past months, scrap demand in Italy is supported above all by specialty steel producers, while rebar producers are still facing very low domestic demand for their products.
