In May this year, local French steel scrap prices have mostly indicated just a slight increase compared to April, according to the latest data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA).
In May, while prices of busheling (E8) decreased by less than €1/mt compared to April, prices of other scrap grades indicated month-on-month price increases in the range of €1-6/mt.
However, on year-on-year basis, in May local French scrap prices decreased by a significant €25/mt on average, as shown in the following table:
