In January this year, local French steel scrap prices have indicated a slight increase of €4/mt ($4.5/mt) on average compared to December, according to the latest data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA). Local scrap prices had remained stable in December compared to November.
On year-on-year basis, in January local scrap prices decreased by a significant €33/mt ($38/mt) on average, as shown in the following table:
