The uptrend of domestic scrap prices in Italy has slowed down in the past week and the situation looks calmer in view of the coming summer hiatus. Sources told SteelOrbis that local suppliers are now not very willing to deliver scrap, while Italian mills have decent scrap stocks. Meanwhile, the availability of high quality scrap appears to be scarcer. According to sources, at the restart of market activities (i.e., between the end of August and the beginning of September), scrap prices may increase further in the Italian market, though much will depend on the trend of the finished steel markets and on the international raw material prices.
