As expected, scrap prices have fallen slightly in the Italian domestic market this month. Local prices in the first days of July have decreased by €5/mt on average due to slack demand. This in turn is due to the weakness of the finished products market, in particular those related to the automotive sector. According to sources consulted by SteelOrbis, prices should continue to float at current levels until the summer holidays. Plant stoppages in August should last an average of two to three weeks.
