Both local steelmakers and scrap suppliers predict that domestic scrap prices will trend sideways in Italy in June. On the one hand, recent international increases in raw material prices made them think scrap prices could also increase in the Italian domestic market, but on the other hand these expectations have been offset by the persistent weakness of the finished steel markets.
For these reasons, most market players believe scrap prices will not change significantly in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, domestic scrap prices have remained mostly stable in the past ten days, with only a few qualities indicating slight decreases.
