Latest situation in local Italian scrap market

After the price decreases recorded in the first part of February due to high scrap supplies, the Italian scrap market looks calmer now. Local mills have replenished their stocks, while demand is still good in general, especially from special steel producers. Meanwhile, market sources report that the contracts between Italian mills and European scrap suppliers (notably French and German suppliers) were also characterized by the same price decreases that were recorded in the domestic market. According to the market sources, domestic scrap prices should trend at around current levels until next month.
