Japan’s Tokyo Steel raises scrap buying prices for fifth time in February

On February 21, SteelOrbis reported H2 scrap buying prices at three of Japan’s Tokyo Steel sites: the Okayama site was reportedly at JPY 30,000/mt ($271/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 32,500/mt ($293/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 33,250/mt ($300/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

Sources report another increase, the fifth this month, of JPY 500/mt across the three sites. The Okayama site is now reportedly at JPY 30,500/mt ($274/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 33,000/mt ($297/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 33,750/mt ($304/mt), all prices delivered to customer. The Okayama site price increased $3/mt, while both the Tahara and Utsunomiya sites increased $4/mt.
