Japan’s Tokyo Steel adjusts scrap buying prices downward

On March 20, SteelOrbis reported Tokyo Steel prices stable or up with the Okayama site reportedly at JPY 33,700/mt ($302/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 35,000-35,250/mt ($314-316/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 36,000-37,000/mt ($323-332/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

According to sources close to SteelOrbis, scrap buying prices at the Okayama site are now reportedly at JPY 33,000/mt ($296/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 34,900/mt ($313/mt), and the Utsunomiya at JPY 32,500/mt ($291/mt), all prices delivered to customer. The Okayama site decreased $6/mt, the Tahara site decreased $1-3/mt, and the Utsunomiya site decreased $32-41/mt, all prices delivered to customer.
