On January 7, SteelOrbis reported that domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya were at JPY 30,200-30,500/mt ($278-281/mt), while shindachi scrap was reportedly at JPY 35,200-35,500/mt ($324-327/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that prices in the Japanese H2 domestic scrap market have ticked down in the past few days and are now reportedly at JPY 29,900-30,100/mt ($277-279/mt) delivered to customer. Shindachi scrap also reportedly declined as is now at JPY 35,000-35,300/mt ($324-327/mt) delivered to customer. H2 scrap decreased $1/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $2/mt from the top of the same range. Due to currency fluctuations, despite the slightly domestic downtick in shindachi scrap prices, prices in dollar terms are stable.
