On April 24, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 30,800-31,100/mt ($275-278/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 34,800-35,100/mt ($311-314/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer.
Sources inform SteelOrbis that H2 scrap prices have ticked down and are now at JPY 30,500-30,800/mt ($274-277/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 34,500-34,800/mt ($310-312/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer. H2 scrap decreased $1/mt from both the bottom and top of the previous range while shindachi scrap decreased $1/mt from the bottom of the range and $2/mt from the top of the same range.
A source noted that South Korea’s Hyundai Steel has decreased its bid level for Japanese H2 scrap in the export market. Bids are now reportedly at JPY 31,500/mt ($283/mt) FOB Japan.
